2) PIANO/ORGAN/KEYBOARD TEACHING:

Individual Tuition:

Lessons are given at our home on a one to one basis, parents may sit in the lesson if desired.

Organ lessons are given at the church of St Bartholomew, Wilmslow.

Our private teaching includes tuition for piano, jazz piano, organ, theory, composition, electronic keyboard and coaching for music examinations at GCSE, A Level and Degree level. Pupils range from the age of 6 upwards.

Exam successes include passes in FRCO, ARCO, ARCM, ALCM, LTCL, Organ Scholarships at Oxford and Cambridge Universities and over 100 successes in Grade examinations.

We enjoy excellent working relations with adult pupils and maintain close links with the parents of younger pupils both verbally and through weekly grades for practice and performance. The annual pupil concert is also an excellent social occasion. Of the 60 private pupils we teach each week, the distribution is fairly even between the 5-11, 11-18 and adult age groups. We enjoy a success rate of 93% in well over 100 exam entries.

Philip also has experience of teaching both the NEAB and the ULEAC " A " level syllabus and the NEAB " GCSE " syllabus. I have practical experience of Sibelius 2, Notator and Cubase Score programmes and of multi track recording. I currently coach a number of pupils following the EDEXCEL A Level Music course.

As we do not audition pupils before accepting them, we have found the last 28 years particularly significant in the development of our understanding of how pupils of different ages and abilities learn most effectively. We are proud of the many successes enjoyed by pupils of all ages.

One of Philip's former pupils, a retired army major, established his own private teaching practice following his success in the ARCM piano teacher's diploma.

Other pupils who have entered the music profession include:

Laurence Cummings, Concert Artist;

Graham Eccles, Concert Organist

Naomi Gregory, Organ Recitalist

Michael Hall Coordinator of Jazz Studies, RNCM;
